Audit of breast cancers in women aged 50 to 74

This publication is the outcome of collaboration between the NHS Breast Screening Programme, the regional cancer registries in England and the Cancer Screening Evaluation Unit.
It follows the issuing of advice from the Department of Health in May 2002 on the audit of cancers for which screening programmes exist and the disclosure of the results of these audits.
It is based on the Interval Cancer Workshop held in September 2004 and the discussions of the Radiology Quality Assurance Coordinating Group including the protocol for the radiological review of screening mammograms. It also takes into account the views of the NHSBSP Evaluation Group.
