The importance of providing proper support for the feet in screening and clerical areas of cervical cytology laboratories is emphasised in NHSCSP Publication No 17 Ergonomic working standards for personnel engaged in the preparation, scanning and reporting of cervical screening slides (previously referenced as MDA 02104).
This Equipment report demonstrates the compliance of two footrests currently in use in cytology laboratories with NHSCSP minimum ergonomic standards and current British Standards. Users' preferences and assessors' comments are also given. This information is intended to be of use to people considering the selection and purchasing of footrests for use within the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
