This year we have focused on cervical screening journeys – the journey which women take in their involvement with the programme and the journey of improvement which the programme has taken.
The programme's journey is now embarking on a new stage with the introduction of new technology and standardisation of the frequency of screening. The NICE recommendation that we move to Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) is an exciting development and heralds a new, modern direction.
The annual review for 2003 captures the screening journey and gives an account of the past year. We look forward to an exciting future.
